Hensarling Wins Commitment for Oversight Panel Hearing on Auto Bailout

WASHINGTON – Congressman Jeb Hensarling, the lone sitting Member of Congress on the Congressional Oversight Panel and top Republican on the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit released the following statement:

"I am pleased that the Congressional Oversight Panel will hold this important oversight hearing in July. While I opposed giving TARP money to the automakers, taxpayers deserve transparency and need to know that their tax dollars are being spent fairly and to promote financial stability.

"Many believe that TARP is being used instead to promote a social agenda and to reward the allies of the administration. This hearing will be a venue for seeking answers to such important questions."
