Hensarling: UAW Should Testify in Detroit

WASHINGTON, D.C.  — Congressman Jeb Hensarling, the lone sitting member of Congress on the Congressional Oversight Panel (Panel) for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) issued the following statement about the United Auto Workers’ refusal to testify at the Panel’s hearing today in Detroit:

“The UAW came before Congress and pleaded for billions of taxpayer assistance.  Their ownership stakes in Chrysler and GM look suspicious at best and like sweetheart deals at worst.  It’s outrageous they would benefit from the taxpayers’ money and then refuse to testify about it."
